Jenny is a super intelligent high-school student who wants to make intelligent choices about her future so she’s decided to call upon me for advice in regard to possibly pursuing a career as a doctor and on the best location to practice medicine. She got wind that I am currently taking a business course in economics and decided to e-mail me for information on the market for physicians in terms of supply and demand, elasticity, costs of production, pricing, and economic profit and loss. According to the report, there will be less agreement on the future demand of the physicians in U.S. As for the past projections of demand and supply of the physicians in the market, there has been consistent shortages of the p hysicians which ultimately influenced the policies and programs of the prevailing in the country related to the health care systems. It takes time to train new physicians and to create the required infrastructure for new physicians. Therefore, the nation must predict in advance the future needs of the physicians. If we look into the past, there was considerable shortage of the physicians in the country which motivated the creation of new medical schools in the country. Government also increased the medical funding dedicated to such schools and motivated them for admissions to those schools at subsidized rates. The important factors which will estimate the future demand of the physicians depends on 800,000 present physicians, millions of nurses and other health care workers, about 300+ million patients, hundreds of health plans, thousands of health care facilities, thousands of employers in the industry, thousands of legislators and policy makers, and other factors such economic cond itions, technology

Should Guns Be Allowed On A College And University Campus

The question of whether guns should be allowed on a college and university campus in the United States reflects the tension between two different viewpoints. One major concern deals with the safety of the students. Many people have suggested that both the students and teachers should be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus, due to all the recent disturbance of violent crimes on campuses. Those that are for this may claim that their rights have been violated because of the many colleges that refuse to allow weapons of any kind on their campus. The debate is not the right to carry a gun, but whether or not guns should be allowed on a college campus. The Second Amendment provides United States citizens the right to bear arms. By living in the south for 19 years, I can truly say that I have seen a gun before, but I do not think it is appropriate for guns to be in areas such as a college campus. There are already too many guns being available to the public, and allowing them on a campus would only increase the chances of people being injury or even death. As stated before, Americans have the right to bear arms, and this should always be protected but not taken away or limited. Srinivasa Ramanujan Ramanujan was born in India to a poor family in Erode, a city in Madras state. His father was a clerk and his mother a deeply religious housewife. None of these facts reflect who Ramanujan really was. H. Hardy. In this short biography we will cover both his life and his contributions to mathematics. As stated earlier, he was born in south India to a poor family but they were still respectable in the community. This gave Ramanujan the opportunity to attend school and begin learning elementary Mathematics. He was quickly realized as a truly brilliant student with most of his talent directed towards mathematics. Interestingly, his family would sometimes take in student boarders and one of them gave him a trigonometry text when he was twelve and he mastered it within a year. In 1903 he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Government College at Kumbakonam. He spent all of his time studying mathematics and ended up failing his other subjects and lost his scholarship and dropped out. He married Janaki in 1909 and acquired a job as a clerk. While the position did not pay much it allowed him much time to concentrate on his research. Ramanujan went to Cambridge in 1914, despite the great strides he made in his work in corroboration Hardy and Littlewood it took a great toll on his body. Ramanujan, being devout to his religion did not eat meat and the lack of quality vegetarian food in England and his long working hours were hard on his body. In 1917, Ramanujan was hospitalized with what was thought to be tuberculosis. While continually working from his hospital bed, he did not show enough improvement to make the trip back to India until 1919. Even with the best medical care available in India, Ramanujan died on April 29, 1920 at the age of 32. Ramanujan’s genius in mathematics is still represented today. His impact on Number Theories, Modular Forms, Statistical Mechanics, and other branches of mathematics have made great contributions not only in math but also in physics and computer science. Ramanujan’s style and methods of mathematics developed from his earlier studies in trigonometry and Carr’s volume of theorems. In his own works, Ramanujan looked for such formulas or identities that he saw in Carr’s works. In his earlier work, when he found a formula or answer he felt to be true by his own mathematical intuition and therefore he provided few proofs for his results. In his works with Hardy, they made great progress in the theory of partitions. â€Å"The partition function p(n); is the function of a positive integer n which is a representation of n as a sum of strictly positive integers. Thus p(1)= 1, p(2)= 2, p(3)= 3, p(4)= 5 ,p(5)= 7, p(6)= 11. (Denbath 628) In some of his last work before his death, Ramanujan discovered what is now known as the Mock Theta Functions. Mock functions are q series with exponential singularities such that the arguments terminate for some power. Srinivasa Ramanujan was a man dedicated to mathematics and had a true love for it. He was also a man entrenched in his religion and a deep commitment to his family. He consistently wanted to improve the education in his community and showed much interest in the poor and orphans who needed help getting an education. Abortion Persuasive Essay Im late for my period. Ive never had sex willingly. Oh God I hope it wasnt from that night. How can I live with myself or tell some one my secret. No one will believe me, it was my own boyfriend. Its my fault anyway, I shouldve wanted to have sex, he told me we were going to get married. Where is he now? He said hell love me forever, I need him by my side. I think Im going to take the test. I cant be pregnant! How can I explain to the child that I dont want it. I have major plans like college and meeting my Prince Charming. I dont want to have a kid, especially since its face is going to remind me of the worst night of my life. I cant be pregnant Im only 18 years old. I have college to go to next year, Im not even with Bill anymore. NO! STOP!!! PLEASE STOP!!!! I cried as this man took me into his world, one in which I know I didnt belong. ATLEAST PUT A CONDOM ON!! WHO ARE YOU? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME? PLEASE STOP!!!! I kept crying and he was in such rage and had such determination that I would succomb to his ways and enjoy the most horrible experience of my life. So, Im going to take a pregnancy test. I dont want to kill my baby or throw him away in the dumpster. I would put it up for adoption, but every morning and night for the next nine months I am going to relive that horrible night. Roe v. Wade was based on this case. In 1973, The state of Texas had outlawed abortions. The Supreme Court declared the law unconstitutional, but refused to order an injuction againts the state. On January 22, 1973, The Supreme Court voted the right to privacy including abortions. In, 1976 Parenthood v. Danforth (Missouri) ruled th at requiring consent by the husband and the consent from a parend if a person was under 18 was unconstitutional. This case supported a womans control over her own body and reproductive system. Justice William Brennan stated: If the right to privacy means anything, it is the right of the individual, married or single, to be free from unwanted governmental intrusion into matters so fundamentally affecting a person as the decision to bear or beget a child. Abortion is one of the most controversial issues in the world today. Everyone has their own individual opinion. I think Im going to debate the situation. Although, I dont want to be considered a whore or a murderer, I definately dont want to be considered a mother to a fatherless child. First before we get into the many sides of abortion we must first define abortion. Abortion is the destruction of the fetus or unborn child while the child is still in the mothers womb. This can be done by almost anyone from the mother herself to back alley abortions and even to abortions by clinics set up especially for this purpose. There are two sides to this abortion topic the PRO-LIFE which is those who are against abortion altogether and the PRO- CHOICE or those who believe it is the womans right to choose if she wants to have an abortion. These two groups offer different solutions to problem. The pro-life solution is to have the child and basically live with it. They believe abortion is not an answer. The pro-choice solution is abortion because of reasons they feel are appropriate. Although abortion is morally and ethically wrong should it be legal for victims of rape or incest who have no other alternative?
